Special Event: DeRay Davis
Born and raised on the south side of Chicago, comedian-turned-actor DeRay Davis can most recently be "scene" and heard in the blockbuster mega hit 21 Jump Street, Jumping the Broom and his wildly successful Showtime 1 hour Comedy Special, DeRay Davis: Power Play. He lends his voice and writing talent to countless characters on Kanye Wests Albums the BoonDocks and currently on Adult Swims Black Dynamite!
DeRay, developed and honed a hip, sardonic, streetwise mentality at an early age and parlayed it smoothly and efficiently into the comedy-club circuit. Davis achieved his career breakthrough at the Laffapalooza Festival in Atlanta, GA, then scored a triple whammy by winning the Comedy Central Laugh Riots Competition and landing covetable spots in the Montreal Just for Laughs Festival and the Cedric the Entertainer Festival. Throughout, the comic wove vulgar and droll, yet also telling and deeply personal, routines around the subjects of race, poverty, and his challenging experiences growing up in the Windy City projects with a dysfunctional African-American family.
The transition from behind-the-mike spots to movie roles represented a relatively short jump, for most of Davis' early film assignments emphasized the same subject matter as his routines; for example, he played the "Hustle Guy" in Barbershop (2002) and its sequel, Barbershop 2: Back in Business (2004), rapper Mario "Fa Real" Greene in the Martin Short comedy Jiminy Glick in La La Wood (2004), and a Jamaican stoner in Johnson Family Vacation (2004). Special Event: Akaash Singh
Akaash Singh is a nationally touring stand up comedian, podcaster, and actor. His career took off with many television shows including MTV’s “Guy Code” and “Wild’n Out,” Netflix’s “Brown Nation,” and HBO’s “The Leftovers” After finding success in TV, he pivoted his focus toward growing the now hugely successful podcast “Flagrant,” co-created with fellow comedian and good friend, Andrew Schulz, along with touring and pop his stand up career. Special Event: TK Kirkland
Terence ‘TK’ Kirkland is a well-respected comedian, podcast host, writer, businessman, motivator, and actor with 35+ years of experience in the entertainment industry. TK was born in Jersey City, New Jersey but grew up on the streets of Compton, California. His national notoriety began as a stand-out in track & field at Henry Snyder High School. TK’s natural athleticism and drive allowed him to secure a scholarship to California State where he graduated with an MBA.
His introduction to stardom began as the first comedic opening act for a rap concert when he toured with the legendary group NWA. Since then, TK has shared the stage with a multitude of celebrities including: Outcast, Ludacris, Jay-Z, Cash Money Millionaires, Ruff Ryders, DMX, 50 Cent, TuPac, and countless others.
TK is a prolific writer possessing the natural ability to captivate his audience through laughter and real-life experiences. He collaborated with HBO and starred in “Mo’ Funny: Black Comedy in America.” The reviews were astounding - TK was compared to the legendary comedy styles of Richard Pryor, Redd Foxx, and Moms Mabley. Possessing talents beyond the stage, TK immersed himself into opportunities that included writing and producing on projects such as BET ComicView, Laffapolooza and MAD Sports. Stardome Presents: Na'im Lynn
The surest thing to come out of Jersey happened way before MTV was even a reality. But you can blame it on the moon men or some other inter-galactic event, but there’s no denying that the universe was blessed on March 15, 1978 with the descent of Na’im “4000” Lynn, landing in a small town named Hillside, two miles east of Newark Liberty Airport (even then he was so fly he was two miles ahead of the plane!). Nevertheless, it was obvious… A star was born. So, his parents named him accordingly (Na’im means “the star” in Arabic).
Growing up using Richard Pryor and Eddie Murphy for Muses, it wasn’t long before Na’im developed a knack for out-of-this-world comedy that has him skyrocketing to the top as the next big thing.
Best known as the opening act for his friend, famed comedian Kevin Hart, Na’im travels the world over blazing the stage as part of Hart’s continuous tour that has produced two genius comedy specials – “Seriously Funny” and “Laugh at my Pain.”
“He helped me early,” Na’im said of Hart. He taught me how to be more personal with my jokes. He was like ‘yeah, I don’t care if you bomb, just go up there and try some new s#it!’ Once he fed me that knowledge I took it and ran and I became really good. And from me becoming good, he’s become great, because he has to get up there and follow me.”
And speaking of followers… His thousands of devout users and followers on Facebook and Twitter are privy to his hilarious up-to-the-minute antics and serve as a testing ground for his ever evolving material – much like his fellow classmates at Temple University who gave him his first standing O as a novice comic on the school’s stage.
